Laurenne Ross- Alpine A

September 03, 2020

My name is Laurenne Ross. I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and have been an Oregonian for 23 years. I grew up in the mountains: skiing, exploring, and marveling at their wonder. When I began racing at age 6, I had an experience that transformed me for the rest of my life -- speeding down the hill, hurdling between the trees, witnessing the snow and magic shimmering around me. I was hooked.

I now race on the World Cup alpine circuit, have been to 5 World Championships and raced in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia and the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. I have two World Cup podiums, many top-five results, and have been ranked one of the top-ten best speed skiers in the world. But a successful Olympic athlete is not all that I aspire to be...

Community is incredibly important to me. I volunteer through programs such as Athletes for Hope and Fast and Female. Empowering young athletes and dreamers to reach their full potential has always driven me to become better and lead with passion, determination and innovation. One of my deepest desires is to inspire the people around me to courageously follow their dreams. I truly believe that I can achieve this goal simply by whole-heartedly pursuing my passions and sharing my experiences.

I can only continue to pursue my own passions, however, with the help of those around me. Without my parents, my team, my supporters, my family and friends, none of this would be possible... I believe whole-heartedly in my potential, but cannot reach it without the support of others. Thank-you for being here, thank-you for standing next to me, and thank-you for giving back to the ski-racing community!
