Meet AJ Hurt. AJ's passion for skiing and ski racing began at a very early age. Growing up in North Lake Tahoe, Squaw Valley was her winter playground. At four years old, she entered the Squaw Valley Ski Team and, from there, she quickly fell in love with the sport. With a father who has been a member of the Squaw Valley Ski Patrol for the past 30 years, AJ is a true member of the Squaw Valley family.
At 14, as a U16 standout, AJ was invited to be a part of the National Training Group. She has been on the National Training Group for the past two years. As a first year FIS racer in 2016-2017, AJ was the top junior for birth year 2000’s in NorAm Qualifying Race Points, not only in the speed disciplines but also the Technical disciplines. As a first year FIS athlete this past season, AJ skied her way to being ranked 1s t in Super G, 7t h in Giant Slalom, 15t h in Slalom, and 5t h in Downhill for her birth year, amongst juniors from around the world. This year she will continue to be on the National Training Group as a second year FIS racer. She will be traveling with the C and D team.
One obstacle that is always difficult to overcome, is the financial end of ski racing. Between travel, team fees, and equipment, there is never enough money. Any and all help that anyone could provide would be so appreciated. Thank you!
