My name is Jeremy Mathers and I was born in 2001. I grew up skiing at Alta in Little Cottonwood Canyon where my parents are both full time employees. I was super lucky to live in an employee apartment at the base of Alta and attend Alta’s One Room Schoolhouse. I started racing at age 9 with the Snowbird Race Team. I love and do all forms of skiing including powder, bumps, jumping, park and of course alpine racing.
I made the most of a tough year of ski racing as I broke my collar bone on December 1 and missed 8 weeks of skiing. Then Covid-19 ended the season in mid-March, so I did not get many races. I did manage to finish the season with an Age World Rank of 19th in slalom. I had a 2nd in slalom and 3rd in GS at U19 Nationals and was the only athlete on the podium both days. In total I had 7 podium finishes in FIS races with four FIS wins! I feel like I skied well when I had the chance and I have re-qualified for the National Development Group.
I have decided to concentrate on racing again this season. I have some college racing opportunities, but I feel like the college experience is very unpredictable with Covid-19. My primary goals this season are to podium in Nor-Am races and make all of the US Ski Team criteria. I am invited to train with the US Skiing Nor Am Team and I will make the most of those opportunities.
This all takes hard work on and off the slopes, some fast skiing and the finances to attend all of the necessary training projects and races.
Thank you so much for your support!
